Fenugreek

Fenugreek (Trigonella\ foenum-graecum) is an annual herbaceous plant in the Fabaceae family, cultivated globally as a semiarid crop. The plant typically grows 40-80 cm tall with light green, trifoliolate leaves resembling clover. Its small, oblong to square-shaped, yellow to amber seeds are known for a distinctive maple syrup-like aroma due to the chemical sotolon. Both the leaves and seeds are widely used as culinary ingredients in Indian subcontinent, Middle Eastern, and North African cuisines, and have a long history of traditional medicinal use for various conditions, including stimulating milk production, aiding digestion, and managing blood sugar.
